Imagine….. Just for Lisa with Ryan Fletcher

You and Ryan have been together for three and half years but lately he’s been away in America a lot.   He’s been away for 3 months now. It’s a Friday night and you come home from work and log on to your laptop, hoping for him to be on Skype.  As soon as you sign on you get a call, smiling you answer.  Ryan’s sitting in bed; his hair’s all a mess. ‘Hey baby’ you say.  ‘Morning Beautiful’ he smiles, ‘how are you princess?’ he asked “I’m alright, missing you like crazy thought’ you tell him putting your head down.  ‘I miss you too. Chin up gorgeous, I’ll be home before you know it’ he says. ‘When are you coming home?’ you ask him.  ‘Erm’ he looks away, ‘14^th of September’ he mumbles.  You take in a deep breath and close your eyes. It was only July 31’ ‘But, that’s nearly 3 months away’ you try your best to hold the tears forming in your eyes.  “I know baby, but it’ll fly by I promise’ he claims. ‘Yeah, that’s what you said when you first left and it feel like I haven’t seen you in years.  I can’t do it anymore Ryan’ you say your voice just a little louder than a whisper.  ‘Lisa, what are you talking about?’ of course you can do it. What do you mean?’ he says in a panic.  ‘It’s too hard for me Ryan, I can’t cope, you’re away all the time’ you shake your head. ‘Baby, please don’t do this to me, to us. I love you, I need you’ he pleads.  ‘I’m not breaking up with you Ryan. Not today anyways I love you too much’ you look up and he’s not there anymore. ‘Ryan’ you say. “Ryan what are you?’ you don’t have a clue where he’s gone. The next thing he sits back on the bed. ‘I’m really sorry baby, I have to go. Something’s come up. I’ll talk to you soon.  Love you’ he blows a kiss to the webcam and ends the call. You don’t even get a chance to say goodbye yourself.  You turn your laptop off and sign as you close it and put it on the coffee table.

You stand up and go make tea for yourself.  Later you decide to watch a movie.  You sit on the sofa and turn on the TV flicking to the movie channels.  Eventually you decide on “The Notebook”  You put your feet up and get comfy. You must have fell asleep half way thought.  When you wake up the next morning you have a blanket over you; you were sure that it wasn’t there when you fell asleep but you figured you got it during the night and just don’t remember.  You get up and check the clock. You’d slept in pretty late.  It was almost 1 in the afternoon.   You get up and go upstairs to get ready for another boring day ahead.  When you’re eventually ready it half 2.  You take a walk as there is nothing better to do.  You grab your jacket and put your shoes on and head out of the door.  You stop at your favorite café for breakfast, well lunch. You eat in and then go to the huge park that’s a few blocks away. You walk around it for about three hours, watching all the couples walk by, reminding you how you and Ryan used to do this every Saturday. Smiling as the memories come flooding back.  You stopped at the bench where you and Ryan first met.  You sat down and stay there for about half and house before finally heading home as it’s now getting colder.

You open the door and the house phones ringing; you rush over and answer it.  ‘Hello?’ ‘Lisa, its Hailey. Get ready we’re going out for a meal. Ryan phoned me and said you need a girl’s night out. Be ready for half 7 and we’ll come pick you up ‘she tells you.  ‘Okay…’ you say. ‘Oh and wear a formal dress. I’m wearing a long black one and the other girls’ dresses are long too’ she informs you.  ‘Okay, I’ll see you at half 7 then’ you say and hang up.  You sign you really weren’t in the mood but if Ryan want you too, then you would.  You run upstairs and walk straight over to the wardrobe.  You pulled out the first dress that catches your eye.  It’s a long red chiffon dress; it’s plain but looks nice. It’s one of Ryan’s favorite, he always tried to get you to wear it when you go out but you never do.  You hang it up on the wardrobe door and then you head into the bathroom to do your hair’ you curl it and pit it all up.  After, you do your make up. You step into the dress and pull it up. Putting your arms into the straps and zipping it up at the side.  You walk over to the full length mirror.  The dress is too long but you haven’t got your shoes on yet.  You go over and pull out the black heels that you can only just walk in and put them on getting out your matching clutch bag; filling it with your phone, makeup and money.

Carefully you walk down the stairs and grab your phone, you check the time before putting it into your bag.  It’s 20 past 7.  You stand about waiting for the phone to ring.  Finally it does.  You answer it and Hailey tells you their outside.  You put the phone back in your bag and get your keys out of your bag. You step outside and lock the door. You walk over to the fancy car pulled up outside the garden and get in.  You smile and great them all. During the ride, they’re all acting strange towards you.  Eventually you arrive at a really fancy restaurant.  They get out before you and then you set out of the car, you’re looking down making sure you don’t fall over, you pick up your dress so you don’t trip.  You stand up and let it fall back to the ground.  You laugh at something Emily says to Hailey.  You walk over to the security and Hailey shows him a card and lets you in.  a waiter starts leading you to a table and Emily whispers something in his ear ‘Ahh, I see.  Follow me’ he changes course and started leading you away from the empty table he was leading you to before.

You’re talking to Emily about all the fancy pictures on the wall when you all come to a stop. You looked around and see Andy, Adam, Joel and finally Ryan, sat at a table.  They all stood up, you just stood there shocked.  You walked over to Ryan and kiss him.  You really don’t care that people are watching you.  You pulled away. ‘You look stunning’ he whispers in your ear.   He pulls out a chair for you to sit down on and then sits down himself, you two are sitting at the end of the table facing each other.  You all sit and talk. They tell you about their time in America and you all tell them what you’re been doing for the past three months.  You order your food and go back to talking.  20 minutes later you all sit back as waiters serve your food. You’re eating as the boys discuss going back to the shared house for a drink afterward.  You’ve all finished and you’re casually talking’ you barely even notice Ryan got out of his seat.  You hear a cough and turn around and Ryan’s stood next to you’ he holds his hand out and you take it, he stands you up and then gets down on one knee.  You don’t know what to do with yourself as he pulls out a black velvet box from his pocket. ‘Lisa (your last name), I love you so much and I want to spend the rest of my life with you’ you can hear people around you noticing and going silent so they can hear him ‘the past three years have been the best of my entire life, will you do me the honor of marrying me?’ You nod your head rapidly ‘Yes, yes of course I will!’ you exclaim. He stands up and kisses you’ picking you up off the floor. Everyone claps and the boys cheer. He puts you down and leans his forehead against yours “I love you’ he whispers and smiles. ‘I love you too’ you whisper, smiling back. He leans in and kisses you again.  🙂
